Alert

With my third job, the disaster response one with US Dept of Health and Human Services, it always starts the same way…..

The cell phone rings, the wire line phone rings, the urgent text message “chip” occurs, the beep indicating an urgent voice mail on my work phone happens and I hear the warning that an urgent email has arrived…..all within 30-40 seconds of each other.

That’s what happened this morning.

I’m on alert for a disaster response.  Hopefully things don’t progress.  It’s exciting to “go there”, but at the same time, that excitement is tempered by the realization that “go there” means that people are dealing with a disaster.
